Cambrette Delivers Celebratory ‘Ration Tins’ to Honour Islanders Who Survived the Occupation

In honour of Liberation Day, Cambrette Care is distributing special ‘ration-style’ tins to islanders who lived through the Occupation and the Second World War, paying tribute to the resilience and courage of Jersey’s oldest generation.

Each tin includes traditional favourites such as biscuits, jam, tea, sardines, and chocolate, along with a few nostalgic touches and keepsakes from the era - offered as a small token of gratitude to those who remember the hardship of wartime Jersey.

Beth Gicquel, Owner & Director of Cambrette Care, commented:

‘We are privileged to support many clients who lived through the Occupation and World War II. Their stories, their strength, and their dignity continue to inspire us every day. Liberation Day isn’t just a date - it’s a living memory for the people we care for. This small gesture is our way of saying thank you and reminding them that they are seen, valued, and remembered.’

Cambrette’s team of community carers have been hand-delivering the tins in the days leading up to Liberation Day, sparking conversations, memories, and heartfelt moments with clients and their families.
